Flowery Tuesday

Some happy things from today:

  • On Friday Keziah and I will be meeting up with some family to plant geraniums on deceased family members' graves. Today I bought some geraniums to plant. I didn't used to like geraniums, but I like them now. Funny how things change.

  • Last week I went to the studio and glazed the remaining piece of pottery that I missed when I took a class before Christmas. I got it back today.

  •  Lilacs are blooming. When I was a kid, around five or six maybe, we lived in a house that had a row of lilacs along one side of it. I used to play in that space between the lilacs and the house. It was like a secret hideaway. Maybe that is why lilacs always seem special to me.

  • Near the lilacs at the front of the house I saw a different flower. According to Lens it is honeysuckle.

Sunny Monday

Some happy things from today:

  • Gideon had his first day back at public school. He has been homeschooled since the second grade and is in fifth grade now. He had a great time. It sounds like he learned a few things and worked well in the groups he was put with.

  • At the studio I glazed the last piece of pottery that got forgotten when I took a class last year. I forgot to take a picture but it won’t look like much until after it is fired again.
  • I got an email from a friend that I haven’t heard from in a while. He is living in Indiana now and it sounds like he is doing well. I was thinking of emailing him a few weeks ago to see how he was doing but didn’t get to it. Glad to hear he is doing well.

Color

Last night I dreamed of green grass and flowers coming up through patches of snow. The flowers were beautiful and nameless in yellow, purple, blue, and pink. The purple and yellow ones were very vibrant in the dream.  I thought of these small flowers off and on throughout the day. Color is a wonderful thing. Other happy things from today include:

  • Popcorn was served during lunch break. This salty snack was just what my appetite appreciated at work.
  • I was able to leave work early today which meant that I had time to go to the studio with Keziah and Gideon. There is a chemise that I have been close to finishing and I was hoping to today. Unfortunately, it is just a little too small and so I am redoing some of the seams to hopefully make up the difference. This means that it may not be ready to wear by next weekend. The good news is that I am accepting that and moving on. I may still try to finish it, but weaving has to come first.
  • Keziah worked on a bunch of pottery last year and much of it was finished and out of the kiln.  She has learned so much and done so well with the pottery classes.

  • After doing some vague math I figure I have six to eight hours of weaving to do and hope to accomplish that by Monday. I got a good start today.
