Memories

Today's happy things:

  • Every once in a while I go through and backup my photos onto an external hard drive.  Because of that, I can tell you that a year ago today I saw some of my family, and went to a friend’s baby shower.  Around this time last year I was in a pottery class.  Memories, especially the ones I take pictures of, can be good.
  • Today my mom would have been 86 years old.  I remember one year we went to Washington DC to see the cherry blossoms in spring.  My kids were little and went too.  We were told it was the best year for blossoms that they had had in a while.  That is a very happy memory, Mom had such a good time.
  • My Covid test was negative again today.  Now that can also be a memory.  I go back to work tonight.

Rhododendron and Iris

Some happy things from today:

  • This morning I was going to try to mow the lawn before it got too warm out. Zed got out there before me to mow and I am happy and thankful for that.  I did other things like dishes and cleaned the bathroom instead.
  • Keziah made a puff pancake for breakfast. When she pulled it out of the oven it was puffed up more than twice the height of the pan. Gideon thought this somehow defied the laws of physics. Keziah told him that it wasn't the laws of physics, it was the laws of chemistry that it was following. I thought this was very true, and funny. I should have taken a picture.
  • When I did get outside I was happy to see that there are now six blooming irises in the front triangle and one in the back by the shed.  The rhododendron is finally blooming too.

  • I was surprised to find Winston on the windowsill by the stairs.  I didn't know that he could get there by himself.

Beltane

Happy May Day!  Here are some happy things from today:

  • The rain stopped for a little while so Keziah and I went outside and did a small bit of yard work. There is a small, steep hill that I don't like to mow. We raked it, pulled up some of the soil, and planted some mixed wildflowers there.

  • Basil roots are growing through the netting of the seed starters they are in. I have paced two of them in larger pots with more soil to help them grow.  I'll try to do the others next week.

  • There are more tulips blooming. I'm looking forward to more blooms over the next week or so.

  • The rhododendron in the side yard is blooming. The one in the backyard is not.

Happy Monday!

A few happy things from today:

  • It was a good day to do something for someone else. I drove a bunch of empty boxes to someone who is getting divorced and needs them to remove the soon-to-be ex out. Their situation isn't ideal and I hope this was helpful in some small way.
  • They live north and there were some pretty views.  I was driving, so no pictures.
  • The rhododendron in the back yard has some buds starting and so does the azalea.
