Christmas Eve

Happy Christmas Eve things:

  • While preparing gifts for people Gideon said, “I'm filling secret stockings with secret things for Christmas time. Hehehehe”.  I love my grandson.

  • TF and I had a nice Christmas Eve conversation.  She will be busy all day tomorrow with family.
  • We didn't put up a regular Christmas tree this year.  The time for that just didn't happen.  Instead, Zed made a wreath and we all added a little something to it.  It is perfect for our busy selves this year.  There is a little silver tabletop tree that also went up as a decoration.

  • The only tradition that I know was started by my ex-husband and myself is the giving of a holiday book on Christmas Eve.  I have nothing to do with it anymore, it is all Keziah, Zed, and Gideon.  My youngest, Bel, doesn't do this.  Whether that will change or not if they have children, only time will tell.  It is something fun to open Christmas Eve that also has the potential to relax a small or excited child before bed.  We all have fun opening our books and reading before bed.

Some gifts are wrapped in fabric this year.

  • The book I received this year was a children's book picked out by Gideon.  The book, The Twelve Hours of Christmas, is written to match up with the song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas".  At Gideon's suggestion, we sang the book together as a family.  That was fun and may just be the highlight of my Christmas 2023.
Merry Christmas!!  Happiest of holidays!

Inktober

 Some happy things from today:

  • This morning I had hoped to go shoot archery.  I did not.  It got late and I had a bunch of things I wanted to accomplish.  I rested on my bed and practiced my DuoLingo.  I woke up an hour later.  I guess I needed more sleep.
  • While doing the dishes I played some music and started to sing.  My lyrics turned into, "and I can't hold a tune today, but I'm going to sing anyway."  Gideon and I laughed.  He agreed that I should sing anyway.
  • I stepped outside and checked out the plants in the front of the house.  The butterfly weed has long seed pods.  If I remember, I might harvest some to plant somewhere else.

  • I didn't use ink, or take much time, but I did do a little doodle for Inktober today.   The prompt today was dream.  I'm not an artist.

Sweet Music

 Some happy things from today:

  • At work, the music was good and I was able to sing along with some of the tunes while I worked.  This is happening more often lately and I like it.  Last week I even heard a sea shanty by Stan Rogers!
  • Over the weekend my protégé gave me some of my favorite Oreos.  They are a wonderful after meal snack. I just try not to think about the gluten.  😉
Double Stuff is important!
  • Somehow, even though I didn't sleep super well last night, I was able to motivate myself to do dishes.  Yay clean dishes!
  • Today is my deceased father's ninetieth birthday.  For this I share a happy memory of singing with him and my mom on long drives.  Weirdly, I don't remember if my brothers sang along or not.  Maybe, because I was the youngest, I was in front between my parents and the boys would have been in the back, I just didn't pay attention to them.
