Demon

 Some happy things from today:

  • A few years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease.  Now, every year I get an ultrasound and blood work to see how my thyroid is.  The thing is, all my symptoms are light and my blood work is normal, so all we seem to do is monitor it.  Two years ago that meant a biopsy.  Today I had the annual appointment and the verdict is that there isn't enough change to warrant another biopsy at this time.  I'm good for another year!
  • It is October and the days are getting cooler.  I turned on the space heater in my room to warm myself up a little.  I like the coolness when I am out exercising in it, not so much when I'm sitting around the house.  The heater feels wonderful.
  • The Inktober prompt for today is Demon.  I had thoughts about this.  One was to try to draw a demon walking away–because that is what we want demons to do.  Another was that I should just skip this one.  I drew my picture before today's doctor appointment.  In hindsight, I should have drawn a thyroid!  Also, my pen is running out of ink.

Weeding

Some of today's happy things:

  • After a slow start this morning I made it outside to weed the triangle area where the irises are. Unfortunately, it got hot before I could do the entire area. Every little bit is good though.

  • Keziah entered the part of her cold where she lost her voice. This did not make me happy, that I still seem to be mostly well, does. I've only had an occasional cough or sneeze that could easily be allergy or situational, not a cold.
  • There are rose buds starting and soon there will be roses.

  • We watched the Dungeons and Dragons movie. One of my friends commented after seeing it that there are parts where someone who has played the game can tell how good a dice roll was. I agree. It was a fun watch.

Friday!

Some happy things for this Friday:

  • The rest of the family has a cold.  I feel like I've put myself into a holding pattern waiting to come down with it.  So, it was a long day in which I did very little. I spent most of it binge watching Family Affair on the Roku channel.  I don't remember much about the shows from when I was little.  Watching the children grow up and remembering the time period is enjoyable.
  • I did get out of the house and went on a drive to get my mail. This was good and gave me a lot of listening time with my book.
  • Keziah is making steps at opening up a business.  One of those steps was to get a storage unit for the things she hopes to sell.  I'm so happy that she is working toward her dream.

  • I had a nice nap in the afternoon.
  • One of the irises is blooming.  I look forward to more opening up and being colorful soon.

Slow Day

It was a slow day. Here are some happy things:

  • The cold I have has almost run its course. The symptoms have all lessened, except that I am still very tired. Maybe I'm just letting myself get more sleep.
  • I'm really enjoying the two books I'm currently reading. The Wedding Dress Sewing Circle, by Jennifer Ryan, is an historical fiction. The story revolves around some women during World War II in England. I like how the author puts in details about the rationing and food laws from the time.
  • Unenchanted, by Chanda Hahn, is a modern day fairy tale aimed at teens and young adults. It follows the life of a teenager who is a descendant of the Grimm brothers. She is cursed to finish their fairy tales with possibly deadly outcomes. It is the first in a five book series (maybe five so far?) that, according to Amazon, I purchased back in 2015 for my Kindle app. Well, at least I am finally reading it!

Cold

At just before noon the unheated front enclosed porch was almost 70 degrees despite it being zero outside with a windchill making it feel like -22. The weather app on my phone has a picture of a sunflower. I fail to understand how a sunflower could thrive at this temperature, but it is a nice sign of things to come.

Other happy things from today:

  • It was a stay inside, lazy day.
  • We have a propane fireplace in the living room that helped take away some of the chill in the house. I like being warm.
  • After taking a break for the week I did a bunch of weaving again today. I'm getting closer to finishing it.
