A Pokémon Day

Our friend left her phone at Keziah’s store last night.  Keziah and Zed were helping someone move, so I got to go to the store to let them in to get their phone.  But, I didn't know when they would be there and Farmer's Market was happening this morning.  I asked my grandson, Gideon, if he wanted to go to Farmer's Market and then walk around Concord until it was time to meet our friends for the phone.  And so my happy things for today are:

  • Gideon and I had some yummy doughnuts from the Farmer's Market.  They were all out of special flavors, but the honey-dipped were great.
  • We walked to Gibson's Bookstore and Cafe to battle a Pokémon gym and have lunch.  We had fun playing and talking Pokémon.  Gideon has some neat ideas for Pokémon based fan games.
  • We walked around the city for quite some time.  We visited the outside of the State House, and two different fountains.  We got to watch some sparrows bathing in one of the fountains.

The picture is upside-down (sorry),
but the time was pretty accurate.

  • Eventually our friends came to get the phone.  She found her phone right where she remembered leaving it and her husband got to see the store for the first time.  He was quite impressed.  I learned that I don't know how to turn the lights on!

Too Many Goals

If you read my blog regularly, you'll know that I play Pokémon Go. There are goals that the game sets to earn points and in game prizes. There is one that I have not been able to reach for months and months and I reached that today. It was making five great throws in a row. Apparently I don't throw the balls straight enough or something. Today I managed this feat and it made me happy.

Other happy things from today:

  • For about 15 minutes or so I went through a random box. I'm not good at getting rid of things, but I ended up with a small pile of trash and recycling before I gave up. A few years ago I went through a box a day to get rid of things during Lent. I wasn't working then and had more time. There was momentum that I have lost and need to get back. Tiny steps.

  • Last night I finished reading Fallen on my Kindle app. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one.  I found another book on the Kindle that I started a while back and started reading it again from the beginning.

Comfort Food

Some Thursday happy things:

  • It was a snowy ride home from work today. When I got home I pulled out a can of tomato soup to have for my midday meal. What goes well with tomato soup? Grilled cheese sandwiches. I like mine with plain old American cheese… we were out. Thankfully, Keziah saved the day. She was already out on an errand and brought home some American cheese so I could have a comfort meal. Yay! It was just what I needed on a cold, snowy day.
  • Many people like hot cocoa. It too is a comfort food. I have a sensitivity to caffeine and can't do chocolate. One of the wonderful things that my protege found and got me for Christmas was hot white chocolate. That made my warm comfort food meal complete today.

  • After my Thursday afternoon nap, the family had dinner and watched the final episode of this season’s Willow. We all enjoyed this show and are hopeful that there will be a season two.

City Walk

Happy things from today:

  • Keziah and Zed asked me to watch Gideon for a while today. We decided to go into the city and play Pokémon Go. I've been playing this game for quite some time. I started playing it to play with Gideon, Keziah, and Bel but ended up using the game more than the rest of them. We had fun battling gyms together and looking for different PokeStops.

  • We went out to lunch in between playing. The avostack at Teatotallers is really good.

  • So much weaving got done today! If I can do the same tomorrow I should be able to finish this band. I will need to warp the loom again to do the last band.
