Basil

Some happy things from today:

  • It is Wednesday so that means I have worked two-thirds of my week. One day left and it will be my weekend.
  • Last year I went gluten-free for a few months. I am trying to reduce my gluten now rather than completely cutting it out. Part of my reason for this is that I like the convenience of fast food on the weekends and when I go to SCA events. Fast food often means gluten for me. One exception is the baked potato at Wendy’s. To save myself some money I bought some potatoes for my after work meal. I cooked it in the microwave to save time and it didn't come out horrible. There was a dry spot that I think I could fix by flipping the potato half way through. I put some butter and cheese on it and it was good.
  • Last week when it was really hot my plants could have used more water. I lost some of the peppermint. The basil seems to be doing okay though. It is almost time to start using some of the basil!

Yellow Flowers

A few happy things from today:

  • Last night I worked in the Problem Solve area. It went really well in the beginning and at the end. Towards the middle of the night I had help so I could finish what needed to be done around 8:30 AM. I was able to get everything else done in a timely manner so I didn't work late. The last few times I've worked in that area I have had to stay late to finish everything. Anyhow, I think that all means I had a good night.
  • The lawn needs to be mowed. I can tell by all the pretty yellow flowers that are poking up.

Rose

My list of things to be happy for today:

  • The unpleasant thing that I did today was to have my yearly mammogram. My apologies, dear reader, if you feel that this is too much information. I’m happy that I am able to tolerate this procedure once a year for my wellbeing.
  • Zed’s office is close to my room. When the doors are open we can usually hear each other easily. Today I heard him talking sweet to Winston, the orange tabby. It was very cute.
  • This spring I have enjoyed the different flowers as they have grown and blossomed. The flowers that are coming close to blooming today are the pink roses by the side door. The buds are showing and there is a slight rose fragrance by the door.

Plans and Daydreams

Today was spent visiting my friend, Amy. Here are some happy highlights:

  • Amy found an educational travel service aimed at people over 50 called Road Scholar. She found a vacation that we might like to take in the next year or so. I've never participated in something like this and it was fun daydreaming about it. Saving the money and finding the time is where I wake up! There is time to consider the possibilities though.
  • We also started plans for hiking part of the Minuteman Trail. We are hoping that toward the end of the month there will be time for that.
  • We had a nice walk in Amy's neighborhood. We didn't go too far because it kept sprinkling and we didn't want to be far from her house if it started to rain hard.
  • When I got home Nanni decided that she wanted all the pets!

Concord Arts Market

My busy day yesterday meant that I forgot to go to a meeting last night and I forgot to do DuoLingo.  DuoLingo used a streak freeze so I am at 1619 days instead of 1620.  I practiced for about 40 minutes this morning to make up for that.  All I can do about the meeting is wait for the business minutes to arrive.  I guess forgetting to do these things means I had a good day yesterday?

Here are some happy things from today:

  • Yesterday's temperature was around 90 degrees, today the high was about 54 degrees. There was also a chance of passing showers. I feel like this reduced the amount of people who came to the Concord Arts Market but we had a good time. Keziah had her first public appearance at the arts market to showcase the new business.  People were really nice and loved the business model she proposed of a craft supply thrift store. It was fun watching the faces of people light up when the idea was explained to them.  Many people took either a flyer, a business card, or both.  We also had some hand crocheted items for people who wanted them.

  • At home the yellow irises are blooming alongside the purple and yellow ones.

  • By the time we left the arts market we were chilled to the bone and I went down for a four hour nap. This made it easier to stay up late to play Minecraft with TF.  We haven't played in a long time.

A Busy Day

Some happy things for today:

  • This morning I decided to see if Keziah could drop me off in the city to walk around while she ran errands and got a haircut. Things didn't quite work out that way. While getting things ready for the craft fair tomorrow, Keziah got very frustrated over some last minute things she wasn't prepared for and is required to do. We ended up running some errands together so she could get those things accomplished. Somehow, I was able to help her be less frustrated, so that was good.
  • While running errands I picked up some peony tubers. When we were back home I braved the heat of the day and planted four of the five tubers I purchased. I'm not sure where the fifth one will end up. I planted three in the triangle part of the driveway and one between two clumps of daffodils. Hopefully they will grow well where I put them.

  • While Keziah was out doing more errands I got to pick Gideon up from school. He told me that updates are happening soon with Minecraft and another video game that he likes to play.  I love how excited he gets for these things.
  • Later in the day Keziah went for that haircut and had more to do so I got to walk a little in the city. We got home just as it started to rain.  There are some beautiful orange colored azaleas growing in front of the State House.

A water feature at Bicentennial Square.

  • Keziah is very talented and is almost done with the sign for her display tomorrow.

Tidbits

Some happy things from today:

  • When I stepped outside in the middle of the night to go to work, it smelled good.  Something about it made me think of camping and it was good.
  • Work today was long.  I stayed an extra hour and a half and there was enough work that I could have stayed longer.  It was a good but tiring day.
  • After work I treated myself to lunch by driving through Wendy’s for a baked potato and strawberry lemonade.  It was 90 degrees today so the drink was more than a little refreshing.
  • This weekend Keziah will be taking a big step with starting her business.  There is some kind of fair she will be setting up a pop-up at, handing out flyers, and just getting the word out.  I'm happy for this opportunity that she is creating for herself.

Nanni!
